Page History
Display contributors and Git history on documentation pages.
This is a community-maintained integration.
fumadocs-git-changelog displays contributors and a collapsible history of changes on documentation pages. It reads Git history at build time and supports Fumadocs MDX and Sätteri.
Setup
Requires Node.js 24.14 or later and Fumadocs 16.17 or later within the 16.x release line.
Install the package
npm install fumadocs-git-changelogImport the styles
Add the following import after your Fumadocs styles:
@import 'fumadocs-git-changelog/css/preset.css';Register the plugin
Add remarkGitChangelog to your docs collection and set repoURL to your repository URL. Keep any existing schema and compiler options.
import { applyMdxPreset, defineDocs } from 'fumadocs-mdx/config';
import { remarkGitChangelog } from 'fumadocs-git-changelog/remark';
export const docs = defineDocs({
dir: 'content/docs',
docs: {
mdxOptions: applyMdxPreset({
remarkPlugins: [[remarkGitChangelog, { repoURL: 'https://github.com/owner/repository' }]],
}),
},
});Contributors and page history now appear at the end of each document in this collection. No page-template changes are needed.
Git history
The build environment needs Git and the repository's full history. In GitHub Actions, use fetch-depth: 0:
- uses: actions/checkout@v6
with:
fetch-depth: 0- Commit new files before building to include their history.
- Rebuild after new commits. During development, restart the server to pick up Git-only changes.
Configuration
You can toggle contributors and history independently, customize translations, and optionally resolve GitHub avatars and profile links.
